About Us - The House

The House

Matierium is an Omaha-born fragrance house creating scent through study.

Each product begins with a subject: moss, salt, vanilla, cypress, golden hour, base material, rain, smoke, wood, skin. We study what it is, what it carries, and how it affects the body, the room, and memory.

From there, the Study becomes fragrance.

The Method

A Study is not a theme. It is a way of paying attention.

We look at a subject through layers: physical, emotional, symbolic, atmospheric, and material. A familiar thing becomes deeper when studied closely.

Moss is not only green.
Salt is not only mineral.
Vanilla is not only sweet.
Light is not only seen.

Every Study asks what else is present.

The Products

Matierium creates home fragrance, parfum, balm, and body ritual.

Candles carry atmosphere into a room.
Parfum carries the Study on skin.
Balm turns material into daily use.
Body butter and oil bring scent into touch, softness, and ritual.

The product is the object.
The Study is the world around it.

The Origin

Matierium began in Omaha from a small study room: walnut counter, kraft board, glass, wax, oil, paper, labels, and light.

The beginning is intentionally close. Every product passes through the hand before it reaches the home. As the house grows, it will continue to grow slowly, by material, by subject, by Study.

Every subject becomes a world.

Matierium exists to make attention deeper — to show how matter affects mood, how scent changes space, and how familiar materials can become newly understood.

What is a Study?

A Study is Matierium’s method of creating fragrance.

It begins with a subject: a plant, material, place, atmosphere, or condition of light. We examine its texture, symbolism, emotional weight, and sensory associations. From there, the subject is translated into scent.

The goal is not to make the familiar simple.
The goal is to make attention deeper.

Three-Step Method

01 — The Subject

A material, plant, place, atmosphere, or base element is chosen.

02 — The Layers

We study texture, memory, symbolism, mood, and use.

03 — The Translation

The Study becomes fragrance for home, skin, and ritual.
